The latest update, published by the regional government on August 3, reports 4,459 new cases of coronavirus, along with 23 deaths and 303 hospitalizations in the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants in the past 14 days continues to inch upwards and is now 597.6; edging closer to the national incidence rate of 673.52 (as of August 2).
Fatalities: of the 23 Covid-related deaths, nine were in Málaga, six were in Almería, six were in Sevilla, one was in Granada and one was in Jaén. The total number of deaths since the pandemic began is now 10,388.
Recoveries: 2,029 people have recovered from the virus since the previous update on Monday.
Hospitalizations: the number of Covid patients in the region continues to rise, with 303 new admissions in just 24 hours; 25 people have been taken into intensive care in this period. In total, 1,307 people are in hospital with coronavirus, of whom 230 are in critical condition.
Vaccines: so far, 5,824,733 people have received at least one dose of a Covid vaccine; 68.8 per cent of the population.
The rising Covid data over the past few weeks in Andalucía has prompted the regional president, advised by the Committee of Experts, to take more drastic measures to slow the spread of the virus; Covid certificates will be a requirement to enter nightlife venues from August 5.
