ARCHIVED - Iberdrola invests half a million euros boosting electricity supply in Orihuela Costa
Two new transformers have been installed to improve the quality of service in Cabo Roig and Aguamarina
Almost half a million euros has been invested in boosting electricity supply to homes in the Cabo Roig and Aguamarina areas of Orihuela Costa.
Following an agreement between Orihuela Town Council and the heads of i-DE, Iberdrola's distribution company, two transformer stations have been installed along with one kilometre of new underground medium and low voltage lines to enhance supply in these areas.
Using more "advanced and environmentally friendly designs and technologies" the aim is also to meet the growth in energy demand forecast for the coming years by increasing the transformer capacity.
"These installations are in addition to those that the company has carried out in recent years both in the historic centre of the city and in beach and rural areas of the municipality, which have improved the quality of service in Orihuela by providing it with better electrical installations that serve the almost 90,000 supply points," explained Begoña Albentosa, head of i-DE's Alicante South branch.
The move follows years of complaints from residents.
"The Town Council has listened to the demands from residents to improve the service and we would like to thank Iberdrola for providing a solution that meets their needs. We are now working to improve the situation in other parts of the municipality".
