70 new cases and one more fatality reported in Murcia on Thursday
The daily coronavirus updates published by the health authorities in the Region of Murcia this week have suggested a slight change in the dynamics of the pandemic, with confirmed case numbers remaining more or less stable but a slight increase in the number of Covid patients in intensive care units.
The latest bulletin published at lunchtime on Thursday 6th May by the Murcia reported 70 new confirmed cases of Covid-19, just 4 more than the day before, including 22 in the municipality of Murcia, 12 in Cartagena, 5 in Cehegín and 4 each in Lorca and Fuente Álamo. These positive results were obtained from a total of 2,918 PCR tests were carried out, giving a relatively low positivity rate of 2.3 per cent.
At the same time, the number of active cases rose by just three to 707, but in hospitals the data worsened slightly: the number of coronavirus patients receiving hospital treatment rose by one to 72, and in intensive care units the figure rose by two to 28.
Unfortunately, the death of a 67-year-old man in the Vega Media area of Murcia takes the pandemic toll in the Region so far up to 1,596.
