ARCHIVED - Janssen Covid vaccine to be administered to under-70s in the Region of Murcia
The first jabs of the single dose vaccine were administered on Wednesday
The first doses of the single-dose Janssen coronavirus vaccine to be used in the Region of Murcia were administered on Wednesday, following confirmation that the Interterritorial Public Health Committee had agreed to the regional government’s proposal to designate the product for those aged under 70.
Juan José Pedreño, the regional minister for Health, specified that this policy will be adopted during the second half of the week, during which it is anticipated that the vaccination of the 70 to 79 age group will be all but completed. Spain’s Ministry of Health recommends the use of the Janssen vaccine for people in their 70s, although the prospectus published by Janssen specifies its use in under-70s.
In administering the Janssen vaccine the SMS Murcia health service will continue to offer home visits for people unable to travel to their local medical centre or the main venues currently being used for the immunization campaign, and nurses will continue to attend to patients in cars parked outside when appropriate for those with limited mobility; some of the first doses of the Janssen vaccine administered were undertaken by health service personnel travelling to the homes of those with mobility difficulties, specifically because of this being a monodose vaccine.
