ARCHIVED - July 16 Young Gun Silver Fox and SKOL 2022 at the San Javier Jazz Festival
New British stars and a recreation of the legendary 1979 concert Copenhagen at the 24th San Javier Jazz Festival
YOUNG GUN SILVER FOX
San Javier Jazz is pleased to offer fans the first concert in Spain by one of the most interesting groups to emerge on the British music scene in recent years.
Young Gun Silver Fox is a musical project by Andy Platts and Shawn Lee. Andy is a founding member of the group Mama's Gun, and Shawn is the soul of bands such as AM and Ping Pong Orchestra. The group's sound, based on the West Coast pop and California soft rock styles, brings to mind its main influences: America, Bobby Caldwell, Michael McDonald, Hall & Oates, Steely Dan and Shuggie Otis.
Their sophisticated harmonies and beautiful compositions are reflected in three excellent albums, "Canyons", "West End Coast" and "AM Waves", al lof which augur well for a superb concert in San Javier!
SKOL 2022
On July 6 1979, at the Tivoli Concert Hall in Copenhagen, Denmark, there was a meeting of some of the great stars of jazz: Oscar Peterson, Stephane Grappelli, Joe Pass, Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen and Mickey Roker joined together for a wonderful concert that was released on disc, produced by Norman Granz, under the name SKOL, one of the best live albums of the decade. San Javier Jazz, in its own production, has brought together some of the best jazz musicians in the European Union in an effort to recreate the magical atmosphere of that concert.
The brilliant Swedish guitarist Ulf Wakenius, a member of the Oscar Peterson quartet; the great Pierre Boussaguet, good friend of San Javier Jazz and member of Michel Legrand's trio; the revered pianist Ignasi Terraza, winner of the 2016 Festival award; the brilliant violinist Raúl Márquez and the prestigious Catalan drummer Marc Miralta.
Fantastic musicians, a select repertoire and a lot of desire, a feast of good music for fans of the very best in jazz.
The concert begins at 22.00 in the open-air Auditorio Municipal with tickets priced at 20 euros. Season tickets are also available: for bookings and further information click here.
