Jumilla joins FITUR 2025 with a strong focus on wine tourism
The Department of Tourism plans to present a “powerful” short film on the cultural heritage of Jumilla
From January 22 to January 26, the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) is taking place in Madrid, and Jumilla is set to make a strong impression with its commitment to wine tourism. The Department of Tourism will present a “powerful and very fresh” short audiovisual film titled ‘Discover Our Essence’, starring the renowned Jumilla dancer Chechu Tomás. The movie will highlight the town's rich wine tourism and cultural heritage.According to the Councillor for Tourism, Asunción Navarro, "we are once again betting on our most important tourist product, which is Wine Tourism." The Town Hall is launching a major initiative with this short film, which will showcase the essence of Jumilla through the lens of its wine and cultural treasures. This commitment to wine tourism will be complemented by a comprehensive campaign to promote Jumilla as a top holiday destination in the Region of Murcia. The campaign will feature a strong presence in the regional press, radio stations and television channels during the FITUR celebrations and the audiovisual content will run until April.
Jumilla's presence at FITUR 2025 will be marked by a series of engaging events and activities. On Wednesday, Jumilla's Holy Week will be showcased alongside other Holy Weeks of International Tourist Interest in the Region of Murcia.Restaurante Loreto will also join the festivities with cooking demonstrations at the Region's stand.Thursday January 23 will be the Region of Murcia’s designated day at FITUR, with President Fernando López Miras announcing Murcia’s new cultural ambassadors for 2025.The official presentation of Jumilla will take place on Friday January 24, at 1pm.Over the weekend, Jumilla will be the reference destination for the Uva a Uva Experience - Espacio Monastrell, featuring various activities organised by the Jumilla Wine Route.Visitors can enjoy a honey tasting by Obrado de Fran, different wine tastings with Bodegas Silvano García, Luzón, Juan Gil and San Dionisio, a performance by the Francisco Salzillo Choir and Dance group and an activity organised by the company Patio de Luces.
The Councillor for Tourism also highlighted the impressive figures Jumilla has achieved in the holiday sector this year. The municipality welcomed more than 52,000 visitors through the Jumilla Wine Route, almost 5,600 people visited the Tourist Office and more than 16,000 took a trip to one of the local museums.“We have to believe in our potential and trust in our product. Jumilla has to position itself as the reference destination for Wine Tourism in the Spanish Levante and the south of Spain,” the councillor concluded. For more local events, news and visiting information go to the home page of Jumilla Today.

The tourist office in the centre of Jumilla is easily found by driving straight into the centre of the town along the Avenida de Murcia and following the signposts. The tourist office is alongside the Parque de Don Albano Martínez Molina, where there are a number of parking spaces.
Jumilla, in the north of the Region of Murcia, has become internationally famous over recent decades due to the quality of the wines produced in the municipality, and wine tourism has begun to attract visitors from other parts of Spain and the rest of Europe.
The tourist office is happy to provide a range of maps and leaflets showing the different bodegas which can be visited within the municipality. Some of these form part of the Rutas del Vino de Jumilla, the Jumilla wine route, and can either be visited as a guided tour or sell their produce directly to the public.(see feed below for more details)
However, the town and the surrounding countryside have plenty of other attractions for visitors, and the popularity of Jumilla wines is leading more and more people to discover other facets of the tenth largest municipality in Spain.
These include the spectacular countryside and birdlife in the Sierra del Carche, the historic remains which range from cave paintings and a Roman mausoleum to the castle, the Iglesia de Santiago, the Town Hall and the Teatro Vico, and the gastronomy: rich stews are accompanied not only by the wines of the area but also by Jumilla pears, which also enjoy Denomination of Origin status.
Tourism in Jumilla is not as seasonal as it is in the coastal areas of the Region of Murcia, but the town is at its liveliest during the fiestas in Holy Week and the August Fair, which incorporates the grape harvest celebrations and the Moors and Christians parades.
The Altiplano of the Region of Murcia, which consists of the municipalities of Jumilla and Yecla, is only just over an hour by car from the Mar Menor, Cartagena, Mazarrón, Torrevieja and Alicante, and anyone wishing to visit real inland Spain and world-class wineries is advised to include Jumilla in their schedule.
