ARCHIVED - Known delinquent sent to prison for Mazarrón robberies
The man, known to local police, robbed two Mazarrón businesses in May, stealing bottles of alcohol, cash and electronic devices
Officers from the Guardia Civil in the Region of Murcia have identified and charged a serial burglar in Mazarrón, after he robbed two local businesses, a restaurant and a bazaar, in May.
An investigation was launched by the Guardia Civil last month after two business reported robberies.
The robber had forced entry and stolen large quantities of alcohol, electronic devices and cash, before making his escape.
Officers inspected the establishments and reviewed security camera footage in both the restaurant and the bazaar, following which it was fairly straightforward to identify the culprit: a known delinquent in the municipality of Mazarrón who has an extensive criminal record for similar offences.
The Guardia Civil began a successful search operation to locate the criminal, who they then arrested.
Officers were also able to recover some of the stolen goods from the bazaar at the time of the arrest.
The criminal, a 46-year-old man from Mazarrón, has been charged with two counts of robbery using force in public establishments and has now been remanded in custody while his case is processed, due to his extensive criminal record.
