ARCHIVED - La Sella Golf Denia signs agreement for environmental improvements to its course
Management of the golf course and country club in Denia is working with The Isbjorn Collective to improve environmental sustainability
La Sella Golf has signed an agreement with The Isjborn Collective, an NGO formed by a group of professionals and people committed to Environmental Sustainability, Climate Emergency and Nature Protection, to improve the management of its Denia course.
Collaborating with The Isbjorn Collective (TIC) means subscribing to certain criteria in favour of environmental sustainability, including:
- Promoting sustainability in the performance of professional activities and personal habits
- Stimulating and promoting environmental awareness and education
- Incorporating and promoting environmental ethics in the performance of the profession
- Encouraging responsible consumption, always choosing the most sustainable options
- Reducing the use of plastic materials as much as possible, radically eliminating single-use materials
- Reducing its carbon footprint and helping to offset the climate emergency
- Caring for the environmental health of the seas and oceans, encouraging respect and responsibility in their use
- Protecting the environmental legacy for future generations.
As part of the agreement, TIC will provide environmental training for La Sella's 35 employees, with an emphasis on the course maintenance, which generates large amounts of green waste.
The company will also offer internships to young people with training in different disciplines of management and environmental sciences, in partnership with different universities and European educational centres.
Also, for the first time in the Valencia region, the carbon footprint produced by the 27-hole golf facility will be analysed in order to take corrective measures where necessary.
"The most exciting initiative, and the one that is the key to the future, is that 130 students of La Sella Golf Academy for children aged between five and 18-years-old will take part in environmental awareness days," explained La Sella Golf representative, Mara Bañó.
