Staff are equipped with Covid protection kits from La Manga to Isla Plana
Lifeguard cover at the Mar Menor and Mediterranean beaches of Cartagena moves into top gear for the peak summer season on Thursday 1st July, with the opening of a further 15 lookout points between La Manga and Cabo de Palos in the east of the municipality and Isla Plana and La Azohía in the west.
The 15 lookout points being manned only for the months of July and August are the following:
In La Manga; Monteblanco, Cala Reona, Puerto Bello and La Gola.
In the Mar Menor; Punta Brava, Los Urrutias, Los Nietos, Islas Menores Levante, Lomas del Castillico, Playa Honda and Playa Paraíso.
In the bay of Mazarrón; El Cuartel, La Chapineta, El Corral and Isla Plana.
Six others have been in operation since 15th June and will remain open until 15th September (those at Playa Levante in Cabo de Palos, Calblanque, El Portús, Mar de Cristal, Cavanna and Cala del Pino), while at San Ginés in La Azohía, Galúa, Sirenas, Entremares in La Manga and Cala Cortina the service runs for four months, from 1st June to 30th September.
As was the case last year, all staff are equipped with “easy-breathe” facemasks and have received training in the implementation of Covid-19 precautions. They are also supplied with special kits for use in situations where they are obliged to deal with people known to be infected with coronavirus, including protective gloves, overalls, FP2 masks and disinfectant wipes.
