ARCHIVED - Lorry plunges down eight-metre high embankment on the A7 Crevillente
The driver was seriously injured in the motorway accident in the Baix Vinalopo area of Alicante province

A 65-year-old lorry driver was seriously injured after his vehicle left the A7 and plunged down an eight-metre high embankment in Crevillente this morning, Monday January 10.
According to the Emergency Information and Coordination Centre (CICU) and Alicante Provincial Fire Brigade, the accident happened at around 8am, and firefighters had to free the driver who was trapped inside the vehicle.

He was treated by medics at the scene and after being stabilised, was taken to Vinalopó Hospital with serious injuries, although the extent of his condition has not been revealed.

It's not yet clear what caused the lorry to leave the motorway and career down the embankment.
