An intrepid but over-ambitious burglar was taken to hospital this weekend after falling from a second-floor apartment in Los Alcázares while attempting to escape arrest, and although he hit the ground from a height of 8 metres is not reported to have suffered serious injury.
The incident occurred after the burglar had entered the flat he had targeted, setting off the alarm. A Guardia Civil patrol hurried to the scene, causing him to panic, and he attempted to lower himself to the ground outside the building by using the washing lines positioned at the window.
However, his grip on the lines was not strong enough to hold his weight and he slid down them, burning his hands. In addition, the lines were only 3 metres long, and he then fell the rest of the distance between them and the ground.
Into the waiting arms of the forces of law and order.
