Los Alcázares reduces watering of its parks
This measure is part of the campaign 'Los Alcázares Unidos Por el Agua'
The Los Alcázares Town Council has prepared a campaign to save on drinking water consumption in view of the water situation affecting the Region of Murcia.
The Permanent Drought Commission (CPS) of the Segura Hydrographic Confederation (CHS) has proposed to the Presidency of the River Basin Authority to increase restrictions on the use of traditional irrigation resources up to 40% and non-traditional irrigation resources up to 57%.
These measures all come as a result of the decision adopted by the Dam Discharge Commission to authorise a discharge of only 210hm³ for the next hydrological year 2024-2025.
Therefore, Los Alcázares council has started a campaign called 'Los Alcázares Unidos Por el Agua' (Los Alcázares United for Water) with the aim of achieving significant savings by reducing watering in the town's parks and gardens.
In addition, a brochure is planned to be distributed to local residents with recommendations that allow them to save up to 50% of water consumption in domestic chores.
