ARCHIVED - Magnitude 1.6 earthquake off the coast of Santa Pola
The seismic activity occurred to the north-east of Tabarca island in Alicante province
An earthquake measuring 1.6 on the Richter scale was recorded off the coast of Santa Pola early Friday morning, January 21.
The seismic movement occurred at 12.25am with the epicentre to the north-east of Tabarca island, according to the National Geographic Institute (IGN).
This is the fourth reported earthquake in Alicante province this year following activity in Salinas, Crevillent and Planes.
