ARCHIVED - Malaga driver posted video going at almost 300km per hour
The reckless motorist faces up to two years in prison and a ban from driving
A 29-year-old Malaga man is being investigated for driving at a break-neck 295 kilometres per hour on the AP-7 highway, where he performed several dangerous manoeuvres such as zigzagging in and out of traffic and driving on the hard shoulder.
To make matters worse, the daredevil motorist filmed his risky driving and later posted the video on social media. According to a statement released by the Guardia Civil, two passengers in the vehicle tried to talk the driver out of this reckless behaviour.
His case has been referred to the Fuengirola Court where he is accused of a crime against road safety for reckless driving with manifest contempt for the lives of others.
The Guardia Civil has confirmed that the Penal Code states that anyone who drives a motor vehicle “with manifest recklessness and puts in concrete danger the life or integrity of persons” will face a prison sentence of between six months and two years. In addition, they will be banned from driving “for a period of more than one and up to six years”.
