ARCHIVED - Marina Alta property sales highest in 15 years
House sales soared by 50% in the Marina Alta area of Alicante last year
The real estate sector in the Marina Alta area of Alicante, which had already recovered strongly since the years of the global property crash, rebounded with renewed vigour throughout 2021, when the number of homes sold in the community grew by a staggering 49.5% compared to the previous year.
This is the highest level of growth seen in almost 15 years; you would have to go back as far as 2007 to find a more impressive figure, when 8,828 real estate transactions were made in the area.

During 2021, a total of 6,581 real estate deals were made in the Marina Alta, compared to just 4,402 in 2020, when Spain was deeply in the grip of the coronavirus pandemic.
These new figures bring the Alicante region closer to the property sales figures experienced before the bubble burst in the sector in 2006 (10,904 sales). When the market hit rock bottom in 2011, just 3,584 homes were purchased in the Marina Alta.
