An open meeting is scheduled by the council of Mazarrón for February 8 at 16.00 at Marianos Restaurant on Sector A of Camposol, and meeting will be focused on answering questions and explaining future plans for the Camposol urbanisation.
Anticipated Council participants at the meeting are Mazarrón Mayor, Gaspar Miras, Councillor for Finance, Town planning and Infrastructure, Gines Campillo and Councillor for Camposol and International Relations, Silvana Buxton. Other Councillors may also attend depending on availability and issues put forward.
In an effort to save duplication and time and also to allow for any research that may be required to address various questions the Council invited any homeowners or residents who wish to raise questions or issues to submit them by January 24. Councillor for Camposol, Silvana Buxton has received and correlated the 12 most asked and relevant questions put forward, which are listed below (in no particular order) and time permitting answers to all will be provided at the meeting. Additional questions may be addressed depending on available time.
The 12 questions are:
- Public street lighting
- Proposed use of Justo y Manoli (Grupo MASA) bank guarantees for Camposol awarded to Mazarrón Council in 2021
- Proposed asphalting of Avenida de los Covachos, running through Sectors C and D
- Re-channeling the Rambla de los Aznares - option 4 presented by CARM (Murcia Regional authority) to the Roundtable meeting in September 2022
- Future Police patrols
- Probability of a new bridge connecting Sectors B and C - Rambla de las Moreras
- Situation regarding municipal gardening contract which lists elements on Camposol
- Removal of unsightly advertising signs not in keeping with a residential development in B and C Sectors
- Possibility of off-road hard surface for refuse and recycling containers being situated on the Council owned area near the hotel in C Sector (considering the containers have been blocking the pavement around the roundabout since Calle Aljibe was closed due to road collapse in 2019).
- Elimination of telephone junction boxes that protrude into the streets and were declared dangerous in 2019
- Lack of intervention by the town council to prohibit the transit of trucks through the urbanisation travelling to and from the pig farm 'La Torrecilla' near Sector C. This could be avoided by repairing the municipality owned road connecting the pig farm to the Totana/El Pareton road.
- Explanation of Contract for the modification of the Municipal “General Plan” of Mazarrón incorporating Area A-05-07 El Saladillo (Camposol) and how it affects building licences and the legality of houses illegally built on the Rambla de los Aznares.
Other questions were received which concerned issues that are not within Mazarrón Council’s control, in particular complaints about the availability of appointments for doctors and nurses at the Camposol consultorio (Medical Centre). Medical professionals and staff are employed and controlled by the Murcia regional health authority (SMS - Servicio Murciano de Salud), Mazarrón Council have lodged general complaints about the provision of health services in the municipality but individual complaints should be made through the appropriate channels.
