ARCHIVED - Mazarron aims to get more emergency services at health centres this summer
The mayor of Mazarrón met with the management team of the Health Area II to discuss the health needs of the municipality
Faced with the summer boom in tourists and a lack of health services on the part of the Regional government, Mazarrón and Puerto de Mazarrón have taken steps to boost their emergency medical capabilities in local health centres.
To this end, this week, on Tuesday June 14, the Mayor of Mazarrón Gaspar Miras held a meeting with José Francisco Sedes Romero, managing director of the Health Area II in Cartagena, along with his team of medical management and nursing management staff, to request and plan the services for the summer season 2022 in the health centres in Mazarrón and Puerto de Mazarrón.
They also discussed the issues surrounding the transfer of health services in Mazarrón and the lack of services provided by the Autonomous Community of Murcia, with the consequent lack of public health care for the citizens of Mazarrón.
Mr Sedes Romero conveyed to the mayor that the emergency services will be available this summer in the health centre of Puerto de Mazarrón in the morning and afternoon, supported by a SUAP team (Servicios de Urgencias de Atención Primaria or Primary Care Emergency Services) that will give full coverage to the service and make an ambulance available for emergencies.
The Mayor of Mazarrón also reiterated his commitment to continue to fight for Mental Health Services in the Medical Centre of Puerto de Mazarrón, in order to be able to provide much-needed mental health assistance to local people.
