ARCHIVED - Mazarron Council carries out cleaning work in Camposol before the forecast rain

The Council’s Services Department continues work on cleaning gutters before the likely autumn rains to prevent flooding 

Mazarrón Town Council continues to carry out cleaning work on gutters and drains in different parts of the municipality, especially those with the potential to cause accumulations of standing water leading to flooding in the event of torrential rains.

With the seasonal rains (known as DANA or Gota fria) torrential localised rain can cause large accumulations of surface water and flooding which in many cases can be alieviated if gutters and drains are kept clear to allow rainwater to drain away.

As the images show (taken at the rear of Camposol Sector B Commercial Centre) workers jet wash pavements and gutters where rubbish and debris has accumulated and a street sweeper follows to deal with the cleared waste.

This work will continue in the coming days to prepare all areas at risk of flooding in the possible heavy rain that has a tendency to occur in the coming months.
