The Town of the Year awards were held in the Casino de Murcia
The municipality of Mazarrón has beaten all the competition in Murcia to be crowned The Best Maritime Town of the Year at a lavish ceremony in the Casino de Murcia on Wednesday night, July 27.
Residents were invited to vote for their favourite municipality in a number of categories on the competition website in this first edition of the contest which hopes to promote rural Spanish towns and environments.
The Mayor of Mazarrón, Gaspar Miras, accepted the award.
It was a night of wins: Jumilla was voted as the Cultural Town of the Year, while Alcantarilla won the Technological Town Award and Cehegín took home the prize for Agriculture.
