Mazarrón unveils a trio of innovative green projects
The initiatives will focus on mobility and energy efficiency in Mazarrón
In another step towards a greener future, the Town Council has announced the launch of three groundbreaking initiatives aimed at transforming Mazarrón into a beacon of sustainable tourism. These pioneering projects, financed by the EU and supported by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, will revolutionise the municipality's approach to mobility, energy efficiency and responsible lighting.
The first project sets its sights on the introduction of bike-friendly streets and lanes in Mazarrón, Puerto de Mazarrón and Bolnuevo. By promoting eco-friendly transportation, reducing carbon footprints and enhancing road safety, this initiative is poised to make a significant impact on the community.
Secondly, strategic locations throughout the municipality will be equipped with charging points for electric vehicles, paving the way for a cleaner, greener future. To further reduce the municipality's carbon footprint, solar panels will be installed at lifeguard stations along the beaches.
The third and final project is aimed at sustainability. Iconic landmarks such as the Erosiones de Bolnuevo, the Town Hall, Casino and watchtowers will be illuminated with energy-efficient, smart lighting and solar panels, significantly reducing light pollution and energy consumption.
Ginés Campillo, Mayor of Mazarrón, stressed the importance of these projects in the transformation of the municipality: "In this joint collaboration work of this government team, the image of the municipality is being coordinated, improved and modernised. We are providing solutions to the demands of citizens, and these actions will be combined with the Mazarrón Urban Plan and the repair of streets."
Andrés Aznar, Councillor for Tourism, highlighted the projects' potential to attract eco-conscious visitors and solidify Mazarrón's reputation as a sustainable tourist destination.
Joaquín Miras, the project's technical mastermind, stressed the importance of meticulous planning to ensure the effectiveness and longevity of these innovative infrastructures.
