ARCHIVED - Mobile vaccination points in Murcia, Cartagena and Lorca during December
Mazarrón, Torre Pacheco and San Pedro all remain in Alert Level 3, while the Region of Murcia as a whole is still classed as low risk
The alarming 90% rise in the regional Covid incidence rate in the past week has prompted the Region of Murcia government to increase their vaccination efforts in the upcoming weeks, with the hope of inoculating the 109,000 residents who have yet to be vaccinated.
On Monday November 22, the Region reported a 14-day incidence rate of 135 cases per 100,000 residents and a 7-day rate of 89 cases; a huge increase in just a few days. To combat the surge in cases, mobile vaccination points are going to be set up in busy commercial areas of Murcia, Cartagena and Lorca during the month of December.
Another measure to be implemented by the regional government is mass testing in municipalities where a large increase in cases has been reported in order to track and trace active cases.
Alert Levels
Currently there are 20 municipalities in Alert Level 1 (low), 19 in Alert Level 2 (medium) and six in Alert Level 3 (high), although the Region as a whole is still in Alert Level 1.
The municipalities in Alert Level 3 are Mazarrón, Alhama de Murcia, Fuente Álamo, Jumilla, San Pedro del Pinatar and Torre Pacheco. In these areas, the occupancy in bars, restaurants and nightlife venues is reduced to 50% indoors, and these businesses don’t have the option to increase occupancy to 100% by requesting Covid certificates, as is the case in municipalities in Alert Levels 1 and 2.
