ARCHIVED - More people are Covid protected than infected, Spanish government says
There are more members of the public vaccinated than have active cases of coronavirus
Spain has made better progress over the last few days in its coronavirus vaccinations campaign, and there are now reported to be more people who have received their first dose of the vaccine than there are positive cases across the country.
Government spokeswoman María Jesús Montero said at a press conference that Spain is one of the countries that has made the most progress with vaccination and the fact that there are now more people who have had their first dose than there are people with the virus is an important milestone in the fight against the pandemic.
She stressed, however, that although everyone in Spain is fed up with coronavirus restrictions and safety measures, we can’t relax yet and must continue to follow the advice given by the health ministry.
As of Tuesday evening (March 2) 3,908,734 doses of the vaccine had been administered across Spain, with 1,266,700 members of the public having received two doses.
