The Region of Murcia registered almost 1,000 new coronavirus cases over the weekend
The latest Covid data in the Region of Murcia shows an alarming 42% increase in new cases in just one week, and as the Christmas holidays draw closer, many are concerned about what this might mean for the hospitality sector, with capacity restrictions already in place in several municipalities.
Daily cases
Over the weekend, 948 new cases were detected in total; 393 on Friday December 3, followed by 395 on Saturday and 160 on Sunday. This is a staggering increase compared to this time last week, when 725 cases were reported in the same three-day period.
Of the 160 cases registered on Sunday, 65 were in the municipality of Cartagena, 34 were in the municipality of Murcia, ten were in Totana, eight were in La Unión, eight were in Torre Pacheco, seven were in Mazarrón, five were in Alcantarilla and the rest were spread across the remaining municipalities.
