ARCHIVED - Murcia man dies shortly after suffering wasp sting
Emergency workers tried to revive the Murcia victim for more than half an hour
A 51-year-old man died on Monday morning, August 15, after being stung by a wasp beside the Makro in the Murcia district of La Alberca.
According to the regional Emergency Services, the victim, who was allergic to the insects, passed out shortly after being stung on the street at around 8am.
An ambulance and officers from the Murcia Local Police rushed to the scene of the event and paramedics attempted to revive the man for 37 minutes. Sadly, they were unable to revive him and he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Back in May, a British tourist died after being stung by a wasp in a restaurant in the coastal resort of Teulada-Moraira on Alicante’s Costa Blanca. Health workers confirmed at the time that the victim suffered a severe allergic reaction to the venom and went into anaphylactic shock.
