Another fatality takes the Covid death toll in Murcia to 1,582
The expected post-Easter rise in Covid incidence continues to be a minimal one in the Region of Murcia, at least for the time being, and the latest daily update published by the regional health service of Murcia on Thursday reports a further 82 new confirmed cases, bringing the total since the pandemic began to 109,522.
At the same time, the regional health authority reports that the majority of new cases are now being diagnosed in young adults aged between 17 and 35, while the new positives included in Thursday’s update were the result of 2,493 PCR tests, giving a positivity rate of just 3.2 per cent, well below the 5 per cent threshold established by the WHO as an indicator that the situation is under control in general terms.
Unfortunately, another fatality has been added to the pandemic death toll in the Region, the victim being an 86-year-old man from Molina de Segura, and the cumulative pandemic death toll now stands at 1,582.
As a result of the latest tests the number of active cases rose by 14 to 575, while number of Covid patients receiving hospital treatment increased by 3 to 87. 26 of those are in intensive care, and a further 488 patients are in home isolation.
Of the 82 new cases, 24 were reported in the municipality of Murcia, 10 in Cartagena, 8 in Molina de Segura, 7 in San Pedro del Pinatar, 4 in Alhama de Murcia and 3 each in Cieza, Lorca, 3 Puerto Lumbreras and San Javier.
