ARCHIVED - New airline connects Alicante with the Norwegian fjords
Wideore will operate a weekly flight from Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernandez airport to the city of Bergen
Alicante-Elche Airport Miguel Hernández inaugurated the first of a new weekly connection to Bergen in Norway at the weekend following an Aena agreement with Norwegian airline Wideore.
The airline, which has a large presence in the Nordic countries, will operate the three-and-a-half-hour flight every Saturday, with a capacity of 114 aboard the Embraer aircraft, departing at 1.05pm.
To celebrate the new link with Bergen, often referred to as the heart of the Norwegian fjords, the airport organised a small inaugural event on Saturday November 20 which was attended by members of the Wideore crew and the head of the airport's Management Office, Soraya Pina.
In addition, the first passengers to board the debut flight were given a gift.
Data released by Aena shows 7,422 aircraft movements at Alicante airport and 909,985 passengers during September, down 26.1% and 41.4% on 2019 respectively.
