New lean, green street cleaning machines for Jumilla
The town council has added two new high-tech, low-emissions street cleaners to its fleet of municipal vehicles

The town of Jumilla in northern Murcia is upping its green credentials with the addition of two new electric-powered street sweepers to help keep the municipality’s public areas free of litter while having minimal impact on the environment.
Jumilla’s Mayor, Juana Guardiola, and the Councillor for Services, Francisco González explained at a special presentation of the new machinery, which was purchased by the Council’s Department of Services, that the two vehicles are a pavement sweeper and a pedestrian sweeper, both electric.
Between them, they are small and nimble enough to allow municipal workers to clean pavements and pedestrianised squares which are currently inaccessible.

Furthermore, it will be possible to carry such street cleaning work without the need to close the areas off to traffic or limit vehicle parking, and they have suction power for hazardous waste and the cleaning of gutters, tree surrounds and dirt that cannot be easily cleaned with just a broom. In short, both machines will provide a much more efficient performance for the town.
They were supplied by the company Comercial Nou Colors: the pavement sweeper for 28,435 euros and the pedestrian sweeper for 24,805 euros.
Since 2015, Jumilla has invested more than 900,000 euros in renewing its fleet of vehicles for the Department of Services, including the purchase of two refuse trucks, a container washer and four sweepers.
