ARCHIVED - New roundabout to be installed at intersection between Los Urrutias and El Carmoli
The two areas, in Cartagena (Murcia), are currently connected by a dangerous ‘T’ intersection
A contract, worth over €254,000, for a new roundabout connecting Los Urrutias and El Carmolí, in the municipality of Cartagena, has been put out to tender.
The Ministry of Development and Infrastructure aims to increase road safety in these two areas with the construction of a roundabout on the old national road, which stretches between the AP-7 and Los Alcázares and is the main access point to both Los Urrutias and El Carmolí.
This project will benefit the 2,500 vehicles which use this road on a daily basis, while, hopefully, reducing the excessive speed at which cars normally fly down it.
The contract offered by the municipal council has an execution period of four months and will mean that the ‘T’ intersection at this point of the RM-F54 will be replaced by a 36-metre-wide roundabout, increasing the safety of both drivers and pedestrians.
