ARCHIVED - October 2022, Guided Sunday morning tours of the Roman Villa of Los Villaricos in Mula
The agricultural villa of Los Villaricos came into use approximately 2,000 years ago
Throughout October 2022 guided tours are being held on Sunday mornings at 10.30 at the Roman villa of Los Villaricos just outside the town of Mula, offering chances to see one of the best preserved agricultural dating villas from the Roman province of Hispania.
The tour begins at the site itself, which is near the motorway exit in the Carretera del Embalse de la Cierva. From the RM-15, take the turning for Mula and then turn immediately right at the roundabout: the Roman Villa site is a short distance up the lane. The covered structures can be seen from the motorway. Click here for map.
The tours are given in Spanish but the guides usually speak English and are happy to help if required!
Participation costs just 4 euros (pensioner, unemployed and large families 2 euros, under-12s free of charge) and bookings should be made here.
The villa itself was built and used between the 1st and 5th centuries AD and consists of two main areas: the residential buildings, which also house a thermal bath, and the work premises, which include a mill and other equipment used in the production of wine and olive oil.
