Click HereOver the weekend of October 7 to 9 the Plaza Antonio Cortijos is hosting the 5th annual SaboreÁguilas gastronomic fair, which is organized by the Asociación de Hostelería y Turismo de Águilas (HosteÁguilas) in collaboration with the Town Hall and the regional tourist board of Murcia.
As well as the traditional “Tapas Avenue” the event features live music, show cooking, children’s activities, displays and even arts and crafts. For three days the town of Aguilas will become the hub of the regional gastronomy, highlighting the tastes of the sea and the products grown in the south-west of Murcia.
The fair opens at 12.00 midday on Friday October 7 and the first show cooking event at 14.30 features tips on seafood preparation with David Lopez. He is followed on Saturday at 13.00 by a show entitled “Entre el cielo y la tercena”, presented by Ana Cristina Ruz and Tere Diaz, and at 14.00 El Poli presents “Comida sana, dando la lata”. Finally, on Sunday at 13.00 Juan Francisco Paredes presents “El futuro de la acuicultura”.
Live concerts feature late-night music on Friday with DJ Jorquera and the group Nagha on Saturday at 22.00.
Most visitors will inevitably make a beeline for the Tapas Avenue, which works on a ticketing system (tickets on sale at the entry point). The establishments taking part are Restaurante La Veleta, Restaurante Ginés, Restaurante Casa Don Gato, Restaurante Zoco del Mar, Taberna Mediática, Restaurante Costa Azul, Gastro-Bar la Tercena, Gastro-Bar Arrecife, Gastro-bar Saboreando el Cielo, Culmarex, Agrucapers, Bodegas Contreras, Distribuidores Al Norte, Cafés Salzillo and Helados caseros Miramar.
On each of the three days the fair opens from 12.00 to 17.00 and from 20.00 until midnight.

Águilas boasts 28 kilometres of coastline, with many fine, sandy beaches, sheltered coves and unspoilt natural beaches. It is a great summer favourite with Spanish holidaymakers, so always has a superb programme of concerts and activities throughout the summer, as well as the biggest carnival in the Region of Murcia, 40 days before Semana Santa (Easter.)
Throughout the year it also has a number of museums and historical attractions, a castle with fabulous views overlooking the bay and several other points of interest, all of which make it an good place to visit for days out. Throughout the year the tourist office runs monthly guided tours and the route of the railways, which explores the railway history of the town.
The tourist information office is located in the Plaza de Antonio Cortijos, just a short walk from the sea front and Plaza de España, a cool, shaded space in which to enjoy a coffee.
