ARCHIVED - Only 21 new cases in the province of Alicante in latest report: Alicante Covid update April 12
The incidence rate in the region of Valencia has risen slightly, but remains the lowest in Spain
The official bulletin posted by the regional government on Monday (April 12) shows a continuation of the steady, but slightly rising figures from the past few weeks, with 83 new coronavirus cases in the region of Valencia, of which 21 are in the province of Alicante.
The current 7-day average of daily coronavirus cases in the province of Alicante is 44.57, including the 21 new cases reported in the latest official update, so the figure is slowly rising again, showing that although the level remains low, there is no room for complacency.
However, there is a significant improvement in the situation when compared to a month ago and the regional government has confirmed that the number of outbreaks across the region is 78 per cent lower than a month ago.
The number of Covid patients in the province’s hospitals is currently 167, of whom 32 are in intensive care.
In addition, 3 more covid-related deaths were reported in the province while the total number of deaths in the Comunidad Valenciana was 6, according to Monday’s update.
Although the cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 residents in the past 14 days in the region of Valencia is still the lowest in the country, the incidence rate has increased slightly and is currently 36.34.
The Balearics (57.36) and the Region of Murcia (67.76) have the second and third lowest rates in Spain.
However, the national incidence rate is increasing at a far greater speed and is now 199 as some areas of the country move into a definable fourth wave. The region of Madrid (336.41) shows a similar increase and currently has the second highest rate in the country, after Navarra (425.14), where the number of Covid cases is increasing at an alarming rate.
