ARCHIVED - Operation Summer: additional 3,821 police officers deployed to popular Spanish regionsÂ
Altogether there will be 44,679 officers working throughout Spain to keep locals and holidaymakers safe.
An additional 2,222 National Police and 1,599 Guardia Civil officers will be posted across nine regions in Spain this summer as part of Operation Summer 2021, the Interior Ministry has announced.
Extra officers will be sent to Andalusia, Asturias, the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Cantabria, Valencia, Galicia, Madrid and Murcia; the regions that receive the most visitors in the summer months.
Between them, the National Police and Guardia Civil police forces will have 44,679 officers stationed throughout the country to ensure a safe summer is had by all, the emphasis this year being on ensuring that covid hygiene measures are observed and the presence of increased police officers will help to engender a feeling of safety in Spanish holiday resorts.
