ARCHIVED - Orihuela Council adds 100 per cent electric vehicles to its fleet
The local authority in the Vega Baja, Alicante province, has taken delivery of the first two of four zero-emission vehicles
Orihuela Council has renewed its fleet with the addition of two new 100% electric vehicles, the first of four destined for use by the Local Police and street cleaning department.
The first lot includes an electric van and a five-seater Nissan e-NV200 comfort, at a cost of 74,052 euros, and will replace older vehicles which were costing around 4,500 euros each year in fuel.
"Not only do we save on fuel and maintenance, these are also sustainable vehicles that guarantee more safety to the workers of this service. Every 100 kilometres driven by these new vehicles will cost, even with the increase in electricity, around 1 euro," said the council.
