ARCHIVED - Over 200,000 Covid vaccines to be administered this week in the region of Valencia
More regular vaccine shipments are making the regional government’s goal of vaccinating 70% of the population by September a very real possibility
Over 1 million Covid-19 vaccines have been administered in the region of Valencia so far and the regional ministry of Universal and Public Health plans to administer 213,834 more doses of Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZeneca vaccines this week (from April 12).
Most of the vaccines will be for those born between 1942 and 1946, who will receive 106,750 doses of the Pfizer injection, and those born between 1956 and 1958, who will receive 70,000 shots of AstraZeneca. A further 17,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine will be reserved for those with underlying health issues and preventative medicine services.
The remaining injections (approximately 20,000) will be used to administer second doses to members of previous priority groups who hadn’t received their vaccine for one reason or another.
This prediction of around 200,000 vaccinations per week will bring the Comunidad Valenciana closer to the goal of vaccinating 70% of the population by the end of summer 2021, which is now a tangible possibility thanks to the growing number of vaccine deliveries in the region.
The regional minister of Universal and Public Health, Ana Barceló, will be vaccinated with AstraZeneca this week, in accordance with her age group, and she encourages all citizens to get vaccinated in order to avoid infection and to protect the rest of the population.
The health services have noted that it is very important that citizens do not go to vaccination centres unless they have received a telephone call or an SMS informing them of their appointment. It is also vital that the health authorities have access to an up-to-date phone number to contact those entitled to a vaccine, so if you haven´t updated information at the local health centre for a while or perhaps have a new mobile phone, make sure your details have been updated.
