ARCHIVED - Over half of over 16s in Murcia have received at least one Covid vaccine dose
The Murcia health service plans to begin vaccinating those in their 30s before the end of June
The proportion of the population to have been vaccinated against coronavirus continues to be slightly lower in Murcia than in most other regions of Spain, but rapid progress is being made and during the weekend another milestone was passed as over 50 per cent of the target population (those aged 16 or over) have received at least one dose of the four vaccines currently being used.
The latest data published by the Ministry of Health on Monday evening report that 631,494 people in Murcia have received at least their first jab, representing 51 per cent of the target population or 41.8 per cent of the population as a whole. At the same time, the 370,368 who are fully immunized represent 29.9 per cent of the target group, or 24.5 per cent of all those living in the Region.
Among those in their 50s as many as 83.8 per cent have received the first injection and for those aged 40 to 49 the figure stands at 41.9 per cent, in the light of which the regional government has announced that the intention is to begin targeting those in their thirties before the end of June.
The system by which members of the public holding SMS public health cards can request their own vaccination appointments online (via this link) is now operative throughout the 45 municipalities of the Region.
