ARCHIVED - Over-80s death rate in Spain falls for the first time since the pandemic began
Researchers at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC) have confirmed that the death rate among people over the age of 80 has started to fall for the first time since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in Spain.
Clara Prats, a member of the university’s Computational Biology and Complex Structures (BIOCOMSC) research group who is coordinating a weekly report on the analysis of vaccinations in Spain in coming months, has found data confirming the decrease in mortality among the elderly, who are the worst affected by the virus. The improvement can clearly be attributed to vaccinations in old peoples’ homes.
