article_detailParking in Cartagena, Metered parking areas
Where to park in Cartagena, On street metered parking There are three different zones for on-street parking.
Blue Zone
These zones are dedicated for short-term traffic, namely for periods of more than half an hour, but less than two hours 10 minutes.
Green Zones
These are designated for longer-term parking, so tickets are sold for either a whole morning, afternoon or all day. The cost per minute is cheaper, so if you are planning to spend a morning in Cartagena, these are your best bet, but of course, they are also designed for workers to park all day, so finding one can be a bit of a trek.
Orange Zones.
These are residents only and cannot be used without a residents parking licence.
All colours are clearly marked on the actual road, so you can see where to park.
Parking should normally be paid between 9am and 2pm, and 4pm-9pm Monday to Friday, and Saturdays 9-2pm, but the machine will indicate if there is any variation.
Do not park on any red lines or where the curb is painted yellow, and be extremely careful about parking in front of garage exits, as many of these have authorization for the police to tow away cars blocking their exits.
There are tow away zones so take care.
