ARCHIVED - Plans to build dog agility course and spruce up parks in Benidorm
A new pet park will be built in the popular Rincón de Loix neighbourhood in the Marina Baixa, Alicante province
Benidorm Council has unveiled plans to build a dog zone with agility course during renovation work at the children’s play parks next to the Antonio López football fields in the Rincón de Loix residential area.
Following requests from residents and neighbourhood associations back in July for improvements to facilities for children and pets, the local authority has this week confirmed the three kids’ play areas will be “renovated and adapted” for users with reduced mobility.
Artificial grass will be laid and cushioned surfaces renewed, together with installation of a 25 metre-long zip line over an area of 125 m2, similar to those in Benidorm’s Foietes and l’Aigüera parks
In addition to sprucing up the children’s areas, the town hall plans to include a designated pet zone on the same site.
The fenced off area for dogs will occupy an approximate surface area of 650 m2 with an agility obstacle course “so that pets can do sporting activities with their owners”, and 35 large trees will be planted to provide shade.
“We have put the project out to tender and expect work to start imminently with a view to completion by the end of the year,” said the council in a statement.
