ARCHIVED - Registration opens for activities within the Noche de los Museos in Cartagena on May 15
This year all activities must be pre-booked due to the covid restrictions
The Noche de los Museos is always a huge event in Cartagena every year in May, the International Museums Day celebrations in the city incorporating live music, guided tours and late-night visits to the historical sites and museums of the city.
Usually the city is crammed to bursting point with tens of thousands of people, but this year the programme is being notably reduced, and the number of people permitted to enter the venues at any given time restricted, for which reason this year it is necessary to pre-book for any of the visits.
Booking opened on May 3rd for all sessions via the website shown below, which also gives details of all the venues and activities.
The 13th edition of the event will be held on Saturday May 15 in Cartagena, with 16 museum spaces participating, as this year the Ethnographic Museum of Puerto de Santa Bárbara (out in the campo near to Tallante), the Carmen Conde Museum dedicated to the writer of the same name in central Cartagena and the Boyer Tresaco Museum, located in La Manga del Mar Menor, will be included for the first time as part of this event.
A wide range of themes are covered including windmills of the municipality, a graffiti art route encompassing some of the artworks of the city, a tour of the Cabo de Palos lighthouse, visit to the Mina de las Matildas Interpretation Centre, campo routes, as well as routes for children.
All activities are free unless specified and group sizes are small, mainly 10-15 people. In the evening, entry to the museums open is being restricted to smaller numbers due to covid, so queues may be longer than normal, although conversely, less people are likely to attend as well.
Full details and booking on the web. Booking opens on May 3. There is an automatic translator on the page, but be aware that commentary on all of the tours will be in Spanish, however, some are very visual: Noche de los Museos 2021 Cartagena
