ARCHIVED - Residents help extinguish car fire at a workshop in Mazarron
The quick actions of neighbours and firefighters stopped the blaze in the Murcia town from spreading further

Firefighters and three police patrols tackled a blaze at a mechanic's workshop in Puerto de Mazarrón just before 6.30pm on Monday May 23, and thanks to their actions and rapid response from local residents, managed to stop the fire from spreading to nearby vehicles and properties.
In a statement, the Local Police said: "The fire originated in a vehicle without spreading thanks to the rapid action of the first officers and the neighbours themselves who used several fire extinguishers to suffocate the flames."

The surrounding area Calle San Juan was secured by firefighters and thankfully nobody was hurt.
The blaze comes days after Mazarrón police launched a campaign urging people not to throw cigarette butts or glass on the ground to avoid the possibility of starting fires.
The appeal was made after Local Police and firefighters from the chronically understaffed Mazarrón fire station were called out to deal with an accidental fire in the municipality.
