Roda Golf property owners reject padel court proposal
There was a record turnout at the EUCC meeting, which voted down all proposals

The proposal to construct public padel courts at Roda Golf Plaza has been rejected by property owners at Roda Golf & Beach Resort. The vote, which took place on Saturday February 22, 2025 during the Extraordinary General Assembly, saw the highest turnout of attendees and representatives in the history of EUCC meetings at the resort. After counting the votes, it was confirmed that none of the proposed items on the meeting’s agenda were approved.
The project aimed to develop padel courts alongside a café and other amenities, open to both residents and the general public. Supporters pointed to the fact that it would vastly improve the facilities on offer at Roda Golf resort and bring it more cash from local sports fans and holidaymakers.
However, a key concern among property owners was the requirement for them to fund the €2 million construction cost, despite similar facilities at nearby resorts being developed without direct financial contributions from their owners. Additionally, there was debate over whether a publicly accessible facility should be funded privately, when sports centres in San Javier and Los Alcázares have been constructed using public funds.
Given the significant number of attendees and proxy votes at this Saturday’s meeting, the preparation of the official Minutes of the Assembly will take some time.
