September 15 to October 1 Annual wine fiestas in Bullas

Parades, free visits to the Bullas wine museum and of course plenty of chances to sample DOP Bullas wines!

Overlapping with the annual fiestas in Bullas, in north-western Murcia, which run this year from September 22 to October 3, are a number of events specifically included in the local “Fiestas del Vino”, which coincide every year with the grape-picking season as the local bodegas prepare to produce the DOP Bullas wines which will start to become available early next year.

Included in the program for the 2023 Fiestas del Vino in Bullas are the following events:

Friday September 15

An exhibition opens at the Museo del Vino, the wine museum of Bullas, displaying works of art donated to the museum in the 20 years since it opened. The exhibition lasts until November 1.

20.00: The journalist Encarna Talavera is appointed “Maestra del Vino de Bullas 2023” at the Museo del Vino, with a performance by guitarist María Bastida. Further information on 968 657211.

21.00: Noche Temático del Vino in the Plaza Vieja, a wine and gastronomy evening with entertainment from the Trío Euterpe and Maxi Caballero. Childcare available. Admission free of charge with prior registration at bullas.es or via the tourist office.

Saturday September 16

From 10.30: Free guided tours of the Museo del Vino, prior bookings on 968 657211.

Sunday September 17

From 10.30: Free guided tours of the Casa-Museo Don Pepe Marsilla, prior bookings on 968 657211.

Saturday September 23

10.00: Grape-picking at Bodega Monastrell in the Valle del Aceniche. Includes a visit to the onsite museum, instructions on grape-picking, a visit to the winery and tastings with snacks or lunch.

Meeting point: Museo del Vino.

Price: 35 euros (children 15 euros). Information and booking at www.descubre.bullasenruta.es.

10.00: The children’s “Cabalgata del Vino” parade accompanied by El Tío de la Pita and including grape trading. Prior refistration required at bullas.es or through the tourist office.

Sunday September 24

From 10.30: Open doors at the Museo del Vino, guided visits. Prior bookings on 968 657211.

12.00: The Día de la Vendimia in the Plaza de España, with a parade and music from the Unión Musical Villa de Bullas. The wine fountain is installed, and there is folk dancing by the Peña La Uva.

Grape treading and a blessing of the grapes as well as the tasting of the first juice of this year’s harvest.

Saturday September 30

13.00: Wine and literature at the Museo del Vino

Sunday October 1

9.00 to 14.00: This month’s edition of the popular El Zacatín arts and crafts market in the Plaza Vieja and the Plaza del Castillo is dedicated to wines of the world and features a traditional treading of the grapes and tastings of D.O.P. Bullas wines.
