ARCHIVED - Seville shops and bars back to early closing from Sunday
The measure also affects several other places in Andalusia, including Córdoba, Granada and Almería cities.
Bars and businesses in Seville and other parts of Andalusia will have to close at 8 pm again as of Sunday (18 April) due to the worsening of the health situation regarding the coronavirus pandemic.
Deliveries will, however, be allowed to continue past that time, as was the case before.
The decision was made at the weekly meeting of provincial health authorities to review incidence rates and alert levels and determine restrictions. While the new measures generally come into force on Fridays, in this case, the authorities have decided to wait until Sunday as the matter of closing times is considered to be ‘very sensitive’ and it would have been difficult and unfair to impose changes from one day to the next.
While the perimeter closures and full closing of non-essential businesses that we have all had to get used to in recent months depend on municipalities’ incidence rates, other measures such as closing times depend on the alert level in each health district.
The entire Seville province, and many other parts of Andalusia including the provincial capital cities of Córdoba, Granada and Almería, have returned to alert level 3 grade 1, (shown in dark orange on the map) meaning non-essential businesses must go back to closing at 8 pm.
