ARCHIVED - Sewer system in Benidorm’s Old Town to be modernized
The work will be carried out on Calle Rosario and Calle Alcalde Jaume Ferrer Nomdedeu, where bad smells and blockages are common
The Town Hall in Benidorm, in collaboration with the water company Hidraqua, has started a modernization project on the sewerage networks on two important streets in the Old Town (Casco Antiguo): Calle Rosario and Calle Alcalde Jaume Ferrer Nomdedeu.
The main objective of this project is to avoid bad smells and blockages in the sewer system by inserting a continuous pipe sleeve into the sewer. The work, which should be completed in around a month, will be carried out with virtually no inconvenience to the residents on both streets, as it will not be necessary to dig up the sewers.
This modernization project is of vital importance to the emblematic Casco Antiguo, as the sewer system in this area is in a deteriorated state and bad smells and blockages are frequent. With the renovation, both the city's drinking water and sewerage network will be improved.
Up to now, sewer workers had to use vats to unblock the pipes, but after the pipe sleeve is installed, this will no longer be necessary.
