ARCHIVED - Slight drop in Andalusia’s cumulative incidence rate: Covid update August 4
90,946 Covid vaccines administered in the past 24 hours in Andalucía
The latest Covid data in Andalucía shows that, for the first time in over a month, the cumulative incidence rate has decreased, after 3,655 new cases were reported in Wednesday’s update (August 4).
The cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 people in the past 14 days has dropped by around 11 points and is now 586, although this figure is still higher than last Wednesday, July 28 (540.4).
Fatalities: 15 further deaths caused by Covid have been reported in the past 24 hours; fewer than the 23 fatalities reported in Tuesday’s update. In total, 10,403 people in Andalucía have lost their lives to the virus since the start of the pandemic in March, 2020.
Recoveries: 631,104 people have overcome the virus in total; 2,118 in the past 24 hours.
Hospitalisations: there are currently 1,336 people hospitalised with the virus (132 in the past day) of whom 238 are in intensive care in a serious condition (five in the past 24 hours).
Vaccines: the update published on August 4 reveals that nearly five million people have now been inoculated against Covid; with 90,946 jabs administered since the previous update.
The advancing fifth wave in the region of Andalucía has led the government to make the controversial decision to require Covid certificates to enter nightlife venues, such as clubs or cocktail bars, leaving many business owners unhappy with the situation and demanding more relaxed measures.
