Four fatalities and 105 new cases were reported in Murcia on Friday March 5
The number of new cases diagnosed within the last 24 hour period in the Murcia region rose slightly on Friday to 105, the first time the daily cases have exceeded 100 since February 24.
Of these, 30 correspond to the municipality of Murcia, 11 to Cartagena, 10 to Puerto Lumbreras, 8 to Cieza, 7 to San Pedro del Pinatar, 5 to Caravaca de la Cruz, 4 to Alhama de Murcia, 4 to Totana, 3 to Los Alcazares and the remainder are scattered around the region in smaller quantities.
More new cases were diagnosed than patients recovered, so these latest diagnoses have closed the week with a slight rise in the number of active cases, this figure resuming an upward motion with 1,099 active cases, 17 more than on Thursday.

Fatalities: The sad total of deceased continues to grow in the Murcia Region, coronavirus claiming a further four residents within the last 24 hour period, taking the total number of fatalities up to 1,507 since the pandemic began. The three men and one woman were aged 94, 74, 61 and 83; two were from Murcia city and the remainder from San Pedro del Pinatar and Jumilla.
Hospitalisations:The number of patients receiving medical treatment in the region’s hospitals decreased by 20 within the last 24 hour period, falling to 182 patients with 68 in intensive care, a gradually improving situation which is slowly easing the burden on the health service.
This leaves 917 patients in home isolation with mild symptoms.
Accumulated Incidence rate:Murcia concluded the week with an AI rate of 38.6 over 7 days and just 86.4 over 14 days, positioning the region once again amongst the lowest in the country (the graphic relates to the situation on Thursday but clearly illustrates how well Murcia is performing).
The municipalities which have performed worst this week within the Murcia region are San Pedro del Pinatar, Caravaca de la Cruz, Cieza, Ceuti and Puerto Lumbreras, all of which have recorded rates higher than 100 per 100,000 over the last seven days, and are the same worst performers over 14 days as well.
Undoubtedly a couple of these names are at risk of re-confinement when the Covid Monitoring committee meets on Monday to assess the measures currently in place, although Alhama de Murcia has shown an improvement this week.
