Spain is the top country for UK buyers who want to buy property abroad
The Mediterranean country has topped a list of the most-searched countries for Brits looking to relocate overseas
A new study has revealed the countries in Europe which people in the UK looking to move abroad search for most frequently on Google, and Spain has come number 1.The research was conducted by British conveyancing solicitor firm Bird & Co, who analysed Google search data using the search terms “moving to [country name] from UK” for all 44 European countries.
Results showed that Spain was far and away the most popular country for Brits looking to relocate, with Portugal coming in second place, tied with Ireland.
From the buyers’ perspective, Google searches are all well and good to give an idea of what to expect from a property purchase abroad, but Nigel Salmon from real estate company Girasol Homes has said that “it is always advisable to visit your chosen destination out of season to get a feel for what it is like during quieter times.”
Some of the most popular areas for British expats to purchase property in Spain are Alicante, Malaga and Mallorca.
