14 provinces in Spain will exceed temperatures of 30ºC on Monday

There has been a marked change in the weather since the beginning of May and this week the mercury will continue to rise, with predominantly sunny skies and a light breeze forecast for much of Spain.
“This week we will have to keep an eye on the rise in temperatures,” Spain’s Meteorological Agency, Aemet has advised, with many areas hovering around the mid-30s.
Monday May 16

As the week starts to heat up, 14 provinces will hit or exceed 30ºC this Monday, including Sevilla (31ºC), Granada (32ºC) and Zaragoza (33ºC), while the Region of Murcia will be the hottest area in all of Spain, reaching a sizzling 35ºC.
Mostly clear skies are expected across most of the country, with the exception of some cloudy intervals at the beginning in western Andalusia and the Canary Islands.
Night-time temperatures are also on the rise in the extreme southeast of the country, while strong southwesterly winds will create a bit of a nip on the Galician coast.
Tuesday May 17

Due to the arrival of an Atlantic front, in the western half of Galicia it will be cloudy or covered, with rains that will subside throughout the day; however, the mercury will soar across most of the country, reaching a scorching 36ºC in Cordoba.
The day will dawn with come high clouds but should clear towards the afternoon, and pleasant temperatures with loose, variable winds predominating.
The most extreme heat will be felt in inland Andalucía; the mercury will dip ever so slightly to 36ºC in Murcia and will remain at a balmy 26ºC in Alicante.
There is a yellow weather warning in place in Aragon for high temperatures between 2pm and 8pm.
Wednesday May 18

The morning will start off foggy along much of the Mediterranean coast with high clouds and even some showers not ruled in mountainous areas of the southeast.
The maximum temperatures will drop in the north of Galicia and the west of Asturias but will rise in much of the interior of the peninsula and on the north coast of Catalonia. They are expected to exceed 35ºC in the Guadalquivir valley and will hover around the mid-30s in much of Andalucía.
A warm, pleasant breeze will blow throughout much of the country.
Thursday May 19

Thursday will start with heavy cloud that will move from west to east as the day goes on. The Balearic Islands will be mostly clear but some rain and scattered showers are expected in the north of the Canary Islands.
Day-time temperatures will rise even further, stopping just shy of 20ºC in Alicante but hitting the mid-30s in much of Andalucía.
