ARCHIVED - Temperatures in Alcoy plunge nearly 15 degrees in 24 hours
Right across the Alicante province mid-summer reverted to winter overnight
On Tuesday we were all busy enjoying the stunning weather, thermometers popping at over 25 degrees in many areas of the region, but within 24 hours the fleece was back out of the wardrobe and suntops returned to the back of the drawer as temperatures plummeted overnight.
The word plummeted is no exaggeration as the list from state meteorological agency Aemet clearly shows, the biggest drop being in Ontinyent (just over the border into the Valencia province) which dropped from 26.9 degrees on Tuesday to 9.9 degrees on Wednesday, a fall of 16.6 degrees Celsius!
Alcoy registered the largest drop in the Alicante province, down from 24.3 degrees at 13:00 on Tuesday to just 9.5 degrees at 13:00 on Wednesday.
The next couple of days are set to remain overcast and decidedly cooler, with the possibility of light showers, blustery terraces and a warming hot chocolate instead of a cooling cerveza!
