ARCHIVED - The Lemon Art Exhibition Tour reaches Murcia City
'Welcome To The Lemon Age' features giant sculptures of lemons
The Plaza Santo Domingo in Murcia City is the venue for a travelling exhibition of urban art entitled the 'Lemon Art Exhibition Tour', comprising eight sculptures of lemons two meters high and weighing 330 kilos, which have been designed by eight European artists -among which is the Murcian Amparo Alegría-.
This traveling exhibition is one of the activities within the international campaign run by the Interprofessional Association of Lemon and Grapefruits of Spain under the name 'Welcome To The Lemon Age', in collaboration with the European Union and the Spanish lemon sector in Spain, France and Germany.
The giant lemons are in place until March 10 in Plaza Santo Domingo and Alfonso X in the centre of Murcia city.
The travelling exhibition has been on the move since November 2020 and has already visited Madrid, Malaga and Valencia.

Lemon trees are more sensitive to low temperatures than other citrus fruits.
The most important areas of production and distribution correspond mainly to the semi-arid and arid subtropical regions with minimum temperatures above -4º C, which is why lemon trees adapt perfectly to the Mediterranean climate. For this reason, the Mediterranean basin is perfect for its cultivation, being the east and south of Spain it is one of the main production areas worldwide, especially in the Region of Murcia, the Valencian Community and Andalusia.
